Sharon is Back after op!

Hello to all on the tonsil  cancer site. I am sorry I havent been on since my tonsil and lymph gland removal 10 days ago but this site wouldn't accept my email and password!!

I didnt want you to think I had abandoned you as you had been so informative and supportive  before.

So recovering ok but yesterday the surgeon told me that the pathologist wants a bit more taken out. So back in on 12th or 13th Oct. Not the news I was expecting. They may now include chemo as well as radio therapy.  I have an appointment to see a radiographer on Sat morning.

Still feeling positive but have my wobbles.

Hope you are all feeling good today and looking forward to your weekend. I have a holiday booked for Scotland before radio therapy so hoping that can go ahead with new covid restrictions.Could do with the destraction.

Best wishes

Sharon

  • Hello Sharonaabc,

Thank you for posting your update. I am pleased to hear that you have managed to recover your log in details and are now back on the site. Thank you also for the kind words. I am glad the forum has been so supportive and informative. It's great that you are also recovering well from your operation but it must have been a bit of a shock to hear that you need to have more taken out and that this might also include radiotherapy and chemotherapy. How did your appointment to see the radiographer go yesterday?

I really hope that your holiday to Scotland can go ahead. You definitely deserve a treat and something to look forward to before treatment starts.

Keep us updated Sharon on how things go for you. Sending you loads of positive vibes.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Sharon.

All the best best in your treatment. It’s good you don’t have too long to wait.

Can i I ask what symptoms you have had to your diagnosis?

Currently going through the same and the anxiety is getting the better of me.

    Kindest regards D

  • Hi D

I found a  lump on my neck whilst putting my moisturizer on.

They scanned head and  neck and found small tumour in tonsil. They removed the lump in neck(lymph node) and tonsil and margin around tonsil. Now they have decided margin should have been a bit deeper in a certain area . So am  going back in again after my holiday. Then radio therapy for 6 weeks. That is my story. I was diagnosed the day before my 58th Birthday. Am otherwise fit and healthy. Am trying to focus on a positive way.

Bit of yoga on You  Tube ( Adrienne )helps me feel better. Every twinge and pain worries me but there are good rates of total recovery with this type of cancer. What's your story??

  • Thanks for your reply.

Im 28. Have had an enlarged tonsil for the last year that I know of. The past 3/4 months I’ve been getting discomfort around the tonsil area with pain in both ears that come and go and the right side of tongue. I have no lumps in neck that I can feel. Now I’ve developed white spots on the enlarged tonsil. Been given antibiotics to start but thinking there’s something more to it.

Been referred to Ent about 4 weeks ago. But the waiting lists are unbelievably long so getting a referral to go down the private route.

I suffer with health anxiety anyway so this isn’t helping.

wishing you all the best in your journey. Keep updated please

  • Hi D

You do right by following up a quicker  route to a diagnosis. Your symptoms don't sound like any of the posts in here regarding tonsil cancer but obviously anything that feels unusual to your body must be looked into. Have a look at Adriene on You Tube. You don't have to be into yoga but sometimes  her sessions are just 10 mins, concentrate on your breathing and help to calm you. We all have times of panic. I cope by pushing it to the back of my mind and getting on with things I want to do. I hope you have good friends and family for support. Let me know how you get on too.
