Had my total hysterectomy - cancer of the womb

So I have been home 3 and half weeks from my keyhole surgery in which they took everything they could take including lymph glands and more. Just received the news I need to have radiotherapy now and awaiting the call to see the consultant. The cancer nurse told me they are hoping to get me in to see him next Friday so waiting for the phone call. Although I have been seen quickly and had my hysterectomy fairly fast I feel totally drained from the process. It has been so hard going to all the appointments wihout my husband by  my side and being told I had cancer of the womb without having his hand to hold was unbearable. Sorry if I sound a wimp but I now feel totally shattered. I had inflammatory breast cancer nearly 20 years ago but that has not prepared me this time round as the process was totally different. I am lucky that I have an amazing husband and family  and am determined to fight this because at 65 I am determined to get my pension next year. LOL. Take care everyone.

  • Hello Ellieanne,

This is such a hard time to be diagnosed. Having to go to all the appointments on your own must have been so difficult. I am pleased to hear though that you have such a supportive husband and family around you at this time. I hope that you are recovering well from the hysterectomy and that you did get that phone call and know more now about your radiotherapy treatment. Don't hesitate also to give our nurses a ring on this free number 0808 800 4040 if you have any questions - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

I can imagine you are looking forward to next year and getting your pension - it won't be long now!

    Best wishes,
