Is this a positive or negative??

After having 5 biopsies for possible melanoma 15 weeks ago , I finally got a letter from the hospital saying I have a phone appointment on October 15

I have tried chasing up with surgeons receptionist etc but no luck

Just a yes or no email, letter even by pigeon would do lol

Thanks matt

  • Hi Matt,

In this period of Covid you can't really tell whether they are phoning you with good or bad news. Most hospitals are currently ringing patients with their results, whether good or bad - in normal circumstances most consultants like to give results face to face, whether good or bad. They very rarely give results by email (due to privacy concerns) & only sometimes do so by post.

I'm assuming you haven't managed to reach the surgeon's secretary rather than that you've spoken to them & they couldn't give you any information?

The fact that the appointment is a month away would lead me to think that it's not bad news but perhaps they want to monitor you because you said, in an earlier post, that you have hundreds of moles.

Good luck, I hope you manage to contact someone for some reassurance. Please let us know how you get on,

    Angie (melanoma patient)

  • Thank you for the reply angie

I do have hundreds and also others have become very itchy one on my chest looks like it's going red and  looks like a faint blood blister underneath it as well as a recurring rash on my back, chest neck and head that leaves red patches or faint brown or small craters in the skin after a small sore

And a lump appeared feels like a grape near the bottom of my neck on the left hand side

I will ring again Monday try and arrange a sooner appointment

And will write it on here

    Thanks matt
