My dad is newly diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer

My dad found out 2 months ago that he has stage 4 Cancer with a spread to a kidney. It has been such a shock and we as a family are all devestated. He is in quite a lot  of pain and on different meds to help. He is due to have some radiotherapy soon to help ease the pain and possibly and hopefully shrink it so helps.he’ll have a short course over 5 days. He is trying to be brave for my mum but it’s hard they are both 85 and eachothers world. Does any one know if clinical trials could maybe help his fight? Thankyou

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Fran although I'm really sorry about your dad's diagnosis.

You can find out about the latest clinical trials just here but if you'd like to have a chat with one of our cancer nurses about this then you're welcome to give them a call on 0808 800 4040. They're available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and should be able to guide you through the process.

I hope this helps and that your dad's radiotherapy is successful.

    Best wishes to you all,

  • Hi Steph.

Thank you for your reply we will look into it, I feel I have to do whatever I can to try and help

my dad, I am feeling more upset as the days go by thinking if ways to help him. Our family are devestated, we lost our brother at age 59 with prostrate cancer after a short illness, that had a huge effect on our family and made my mum ill. We are hoping that some radiotherapy will

    ease some pain for him.
