My dad has colon cancer and im scared

My dad was diagnosed with colon cancer last monday, he went for the procedure to have a camera imserted but they couldnt het the camera through as the tumour was too big, his colon is has been reduced in size massively. The doctor took 10 biopsys but told my dad he didnt really need them and has seen enough cancer to know.
he has now had a CT scan where they also used some dye i believe this is too see if the cancer has spread to any organs, the results ho infront of the MDT for discussion today.
im concerened that if its that big does this suggest his in a later stage? I cant talk to him because he just wants to carry in as normal but seeing him no longer eating properly or up in the night in agony and knowing his colon is near enough closed is playing in my mind so much.
has anyone been through this?

  • My dad having all the same issues in hospital at the moment. Had endoscopy found traces had a biopsy and ct scan found cancer in his intensens now after further tests he got cancer in his colon. He had a stroke last year and also suffers from some vascular dementia he should be coming home today and then the Dmt team going to visit us and tell me what the options are as he only got me at home with him. My sister died of cancer 16 years ago so I know I've got to be strong for him

  • Im really sorry to hear about your dad and your sister too, thats awful of course be strong but remember you are allowed to an off day you need to look after yourself too.
i get everyone has to wait but its more the size of the tumour thats worrying me, if they couldnt get the tiny wire and camera through then it must be too big, and i stupidly google colon cancer and it showed the bigger the mass the more advanced the stage, i just wish all the waiting is over.

do you know when your being spoken to about your dads options? Xx
