Hi everyone,I have just been diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer her positive,I'm so scared I just want to live a long and happy life,it's not spread to the lymph nodes so I suppose that's a positive xx got to have a MRI, chemotherapy surgery and radiotherapy xxx

  • Hello Emmajade28

I'm sorry to hear that you've been diagnosed with breast cancer. I know that many of the women here on the forum who have had the same diagnosis will understand how scary it can be to be told that news.

It sounds really positive that you've been told at this point that your lymph nodes are clear and the MRI will give the Consultants a clearer idea of what is going on so that they can plan your treatment.

You might find it helpful to talk things through with one of our team of nurses. I know that they will be able to answer lots of the questions I'm sure you have and offer some reassurance about what the next steps will be. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

Keep in touch Emma and let us know how you get on with your MRI.

    Best wishes,

    Hi Emmajade,

I am so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Do you know what type of breast ccer you have? I am glad to hear that your lymph nodes are not invoednd that your cancer is grade 2. This means that you have caught it fairly earland, this will improve your chances.

I have had two bouts of breast cancer in the past 11 years. I had a lumpectomy first time around and a double mastectomy the second time. You are likely to have a difficult year as you go through treatment, but there is no reason why you shouldn't live a long and happy life after that.

Do please keep in touch and let us know how you are getting on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi it's invasive her positive xx thank you for your kind words I'm so petrified keep thinking the worse xx

  •

    Hi Emmajade,

We all tend to think the worst at this stage. Fortunately, this doesn't often come to pass. Have you been given any idea of when you will have your mammogram, or when you are likely to have chemo?

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • It's only natural to think the worse I suppose,I got my oncologist appointment tomorrow, to discuss treatment etc but it's chemotherapy to shrink the lump then surgery then radiotherapy also got to have hormone therapy as it's her positive, the positive thing is the ultrasound is showing its contained and not in the lymph nodes xxx

    Hi Emmajade,

We all tend to think the worst at this stage - I suppose that it is only natural. It's good news that the lymph nodes are clear.

I shall be thinking of you tomorrow and, I hope that it all goes well.

    Please keep in touch.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hello lovely, just thought I would update I had my oncologist appointment today it was very positive to hear that I have caught it early and they are treating me to cure so I can live a normal healthy life, first chemotherapy next week a bit worried about the side effects just waiting for a breast MRI now xx thank you for your messages xxx

    Hi Emmajade,

Thank you for the update. I'm glad to hear that it all sounds fairly positive and, that your oncologist believes that it is cureable. It is also good to hear that  your chemo is starting so soon, as the sooner you start treatment, the better your chances will be.

Chemo is not a walk in the park, but it is doable. Try not to worry about the side-effects, as not everyone gets them. There are different types of chemo too, so if you are having bother with one type, they can try another.

If you can possibly manage it, try not to look too far ahead, as you will just feel overwhelmed if you take in the whole picture at once. Many of us have learned to take life day by day, or even hour by hour, when it all gets too much. That way, you'll find that you can cope with each thing as it happens and won't worry about unecessary 'what ifs'.

I shall be thinking of you next week and hope that it all goes well for you.

Please keep in touch when you can.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you Will definitely keep in touch, the chemo is once every 3 weeks for 4 months so is definitely doable just positive thoughts now xxx

  • HI Emmajade,

Try to hang on to those positive thoughts, as they'll help you through this.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
