My husband had two hernias and was about to have an operation when they cancelled week before lockdown due to his age despite him going privately. He has since been treated by our GP for what he said were symptoms related to these hernias. Weight loss, loss of appetite, night sweats, anemia and breathlessness, constipation. Then the GP asked for a stool sample. This cam eback positive but evern then he said don't worry too much as you can have a false positive. He went on to have a cat scan, endoscopy and colonoscopy. Suddenly called into hospital day after colonoscopy etc were not told what for. Then asked by consultant how much we knew. He has sheets which indicated he might have a tumour in colon nothing else. We were then told that it is inoperable as spread to lungs and liver. I passed out, never passed out in my life. We are now awaiting results of biopsies to go ahead and have chemo. My husband has always been very fit and healthy having been a footballer. And up until April looked very fit and well. Consultant says that this may have been there since before Christmas. Why did his GP not recognise these symptoms, Covid, hernias masking them. But surely the GP should have know that these symptoms very classic now after reading all the information? We are both very scared and feel our world has exploded. We are a very close couple with no children. I need to be extra strong for him and fight for the correct treatment. I know that this will not be a cure but hoping that at least we can dampsen things down so that it gives us more quality time together. GP says we have a long hard road ahead of us.......
