Fingers crossed wrt your MRI results. All things considering, good news I hope you dont mind me saying that you are likely not to need chemo. 

Lets take it bit by bit, I wld say to consider your options over a couple of days. As awful as it is, chemo is meant to help, not hurt ultimately and prevent recurence in other parts of the body. Touch wood, but you dont want to find out later that its spread and that you could have done something about it. And chemo is different for different ppl, my friend's dad didnt get sick at all, in fact he didnt suffect any side effects, and my mom also wasnt very poorly from it.

I am in the same position as you. I am 43 and found a lump, convinced myself it was nothing rather than something but the doctor phoned yesterday to say it is cancer. She has booked me in to have lumpectomy on 28th if the MRI results are fine and just show one lump and then radiotherapy if no lymph nodes are involved. Luckily they have booked my MRI for this Monday as I will need to isolate for 14 days, which means I can have op on 28th if ok. I just want to know MRI results so I can see a plan going forward. At the moment it is still all up in the air.

I am totally in shock as I am quite young and healthy, but my friend who is about the same age went through exactly the same diagnosis a few years ago. 

It is scary as everything seems so sudden and you never think you will be in this situation, even though it is quite common.

Hi Rachel;

I had my scan yesterday. The hospital telephoned in the morning as there was a cancellation at 2pm.

I must say the MRI scanner id VERY noisy but all over now. I had a letter to ask me to go in next Thursday presumebly to talk through the next stage.

I'm glad the first bit is over for you. I think when we find out MRI results we will be able to map out the treatment whatever it is. My doctor has offered to tell me things over the phone as we can't take anyone to the appointments due to covid. 

I watched a video of MRI today and they said it was 20 mins of lying still and sounded very noisy but i guess we should be grateful there are amazing machines to find stuff easily. Supposedly I have dense tissue so a mammogram didn't show a clear picture. 

Hopefully the results for both of us will be straightforward and this will be a memory in a few months time!
