Recently diagnosed - esophagus cancer

Hi everyone..I was diagnosed with esophagus cancer on 20th may since then I have had cat scan which came back clear then pet scan which showed cancer in lymph nodes..yesterday I was told they cannot operate as the node is to close to a artery...I'm waiting to see a consultant seen noone up to know then start chemo and will have a box of chemo for use at home..I'm terrified I know nothing about cancer chemo or anything.....

  • Hello, I'm sorry to hear your diagnosis. My mum has osphagul cancer that has spread to nodes in her neck chest and lungs it is also in her liver. She has a stent and has been having chemo for two months and now and has coped really well and is able to eat much more solid foods. There has been lots of support for her even in covid 19 world. If you want to ask me any questions please feel free and best of luck for your journey

  • Hi Rose....thank you, this is all new to me...

I'm scared I know nothing about cancer or treatment

It's good to hear your mum is able to eat as I'm getting worse down to soups and medical drinks, that's the scary part...will they operate on your mum when the tumour shrinks? Mine is 4cms dont fully know about lymph nodes as not explained only that one was near a artery? Any help advice greatly appreciated....love to your mum  and warm wishes to you......
