getting through the recovery period...

Hi,

I was diagnosed with oropharyngeal cancer of the right tonsil back on February 12th (my 53rd birthday!) TNM 3:1:0.

I decided to blog about preliminaries before chemoradiation treatment, during treatment, and am now well into the recovery period (week 6 after CRT finished).

As well as covering personal experiences, I also look into some of the science behind the treatments and HPV cancers in men in general.

I'm also really happy to answer any questions. But just to say, the treatment and recovery are hard, and the side-effects BRUTAL, but you will get there in the end!

As I'm only at week 6 of the recovery period, I'm still finding out loads about both myself and how my body and mind are reacting to the intensity of the radiation therapy. I've learned so much from reading other people's blogs, especially www.radioactiveraz.wordpress.com and radiotherapythroat.home.blog/

Cheers, Anson

  • Hello Anson and welcome to the forum!
Thank you for sharing your experience. As I'm sure you know we have quite a few members here who go through treatment for oropharyngeal cancer and it's great to hear that you've found the forum helpful. In particular I'm sure that Ian aka [@Anchor1707]‍ and Hazel aka [@RadioactiveRaz]‍ would be really pleased to learn that their blogs have been such a source of support and information for you since your diagnosis.
I hope that your recovery continues to go well. I shall certainly be having a read through your blog over a cuppa later on today.

    Best wishes,
