Breast Cancer

Hi  just wanted to share this in case it helps anyone .  I found a lump in March went to GP and was referred to breast clinic as she wasn’t sure if it was a cyst. The clinic gave me two mammograms, biyopsy and a scam, waited two weeks came back with cancer was totally shocked but I am a very positive person and thought okay I need to deal with this . They advised me that I would need a mastectomy on my left breast , which I had a month ago , went back three weeks ago for my results with the tissue and was shocked as the cancer along with pre cancer cells it was 9cm long .... so glad I went when I did !!   It was stage 1-2 and it was invasive ductal carcinoma.   They are advising me that I need only 1 week of radiotherapy now. I think I have been very lucky .

I have coped well recovery was good , I am very impatient and want everything to recover quickly. The only pain I have had is from my scar which I presume it’s knitting together with tightness in my back ?

Thanks S x

  • Hi Suzy

yeah that’s the plan, I went back yesterday for the biopsy results on the second lump that is just below the original one. It came back that one was the same thing and although they are both small at 13mm and 10mm and as far as they can see they are still only stage 1, as they’ve now confirmed that they are both cancer they want to shrink them down as much as possible and then do a full mastectomy.

The IVF will definitely give me something positive to focus on for the next 3 weeks and then hopefully jump straight into treatment and get these little buggers out of here!!

I feel lucky also as the consultant said to me yesterday that the CT scan has to be done but they are expecting that to confirm that it hasn’t tried to go anywhere else outside of the breast and that they wouldn’t be letting me have the IVF if they didn’t believe that I will be fine.. so I took that away and just trying to think of those words every time I have a little moment :)

How are you feeling? It does sound like you have been very lucky to have caught it when you did too xx

  • Did you or anyone have axillary node clearance under the arm. I had mastectomy with immediate reconstruction but have to have node clearance now

  • I suppose they treat ever one differently as mine was 9cm that was the cancer and pre cancer cells so was pretty big but just done the mastectomy.

My biggest fear when I went back after the mastectomy was if it had travelled into my lymph nodes but was alml clear , yes you just want rid of the ******* now .

Yes i am good no pain and back to myself out and about walking and back to exercising in house as well, not long till my radiotherapy first week in July and I am done

i wish you all the best with your IVF , please let me know how you go with it all .

    Take Care xxxx

  • aah thank you, I will keep you posted.

That should be around the time I start my Chemotherapy when you start your radiotherapy. I am having the egg retrieval 1st July and they said they will start the ball rolling as soon as that’s done.

happy to hear your back to yourself so quickly .. Keep in touch too
