Hi Jamesw I am sorry to hear your news.Just want to share my story.I had treatment for breast cancer 2,5 years ago.Was ok.till last year when I started to cough.Had tests and x-rays and biopsy and turned out my breast cancer has returned in my lungs,liver and kidney.So stage 4. I am only 42.I was in a such a shock.But still here fighting and stronger.Having chemo since August 2019 but latest scan showing no tumors in liver and kidney and lung nodules and breast lump shrinking.

I am returning back to work in June because I need some normality in my life and feeling well.I was off sick since end of May last year.

Did they offer you treatment yet?

That's amazing! It sounds like you've gone through so much and I'm happy you've beaten it. Is there any advise you can please give me regarding diet or just anything that helped you get through such a terrible time in your life.

im kind of in a similar boat to you although different cancer. I was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in march, spread to my ribs and spine. I have had 4 rounds of chemotherapy and my tumour in my breast is nearly non existant. They plan to target my mets with radiotherapy. Im devastated too as im only 29. Here if you want to chat.

Hi Jamesw I dont have any special diet.I dont eat red meat,chicken 1xweek i eat fish lots of veg and beans and lentils.And everyday 1 bowl of different fruits.Every other day I do home exercise - walking 5km keep my lungs going.And I keep positive.I do cry sometimes because so fed up with the hospital but always get out of bed and telling to myself I have to fight for my husband and my mum.

I hope this helps: I got diagnosed stage 4 lung cancer back in January 2018 and I'm still here, no plans to pop my clogs just yet.

My consultant back then advised me to exercise and eat more protein. That made sense to me so I did it. I lift weights (ha! well they feel heavy to me, anyway) to offset any wasting away and the protein helps with that. I use body composition scales to weigh myself and keep track of lean body weight and fat. For the amount of exercise I should look well fit, actually I just look normal but that's fine by me, it seems to go with the cancer territory. The statistics show that cancer patients who exercise live a bit longer and tolerate the drugs better. Like Tesco says, every little helps.

New drugs and treatments keep coming out all the time, all you need to do is stay positive and hang in there until something comes along that's right for you. Fingers crossed.
