Covid and bowel cancer

Hi all. Extremely new to this. Just found out my mum has bowel cancer and don't really know how to feel. She was quickly down to have an op but this got stopped due to her testing positive for covid. She has no symptoms what so ever. She is self isolating even more so now to hope to have the op in a weeks time. I have read some awful things and it's making me really sad. It hasn't spread so I'm keeping positive and hoping the op can help. I'd appreciate any positive  stories from people having the operation. Alex

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Ahull although I'm sorry about your mum's cancer and covid19 diagnosis. What a lot to happen in such a small space of time.

Hopefully some of our members who have had surgery as part of their bowel cancer treatment will get back to you soon but if you or your mum would like to discuss this with one of our cancer nurses then you can contact them on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

You may find others who have had this done on the Bowel Cancer UK website as well.

Wishing your mum a speedy recovery from covid19 and all the best with her op.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
