Secondary cancer in pelvis due to start chemoradiation

Hi everyone i'm 39 had stage 1 rectal cancer 4 years ago, it's now back in my pelvis. Due to start 5 weeks of chemoradiotherapy after some more tests. Then 3-6 months of chemo. Then operation will be posterior exenteration. I already lost my rectum and sigmoid colon last time and had temporary ileostomy for 10 weeks then had that reversed. Would be really interested to hear from anyone with similar and any tips on the chemoradiation which will also target my original site which was very low down near my anus. Thank you, Ali

  • Hello .Ali.. and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear that you're about to start treatment soon. It's understandable that you want to be as prepared as you can for things.

I've had a look through the forum and I can see that both [@hondahornet]‍ and [@Imfine2020]‍ have both recently posted about chemoradiation in the pelvic area. As I've tagged them into this post they may stop by to say Hello! and share any advice they may have before you start treatment.
The team at the hospital will be a great point of contact for you so please do talk to them about any problems or concerns that you have before and once treatment starts. You're also welcome to call our team of nurses to talk things through if you think it would help. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

    Sending best wishes
