New diagnosis - psuedomyxoma peritonei

Have had a huge operation ,full hysterectomy ,appendix and gallbladder removed due to massive ovarian tumour ,expecting diagnosis of ovarian cancer but turns out I have a rare one called psuedomyxoma peritonei starting in the appendix!
obviously it's not the outcome that i wanted ,the specialist hospital is miles and miles away from where I live ,and sounds like I'll endure another full on operation ,they have said it low grade which is good news but I want to know how you all keep focusing on the positives ,I'm trying but it's so hard ! I've not told my children yet due to not wanting to overload them especially at this difficult time with the virus !

I suppose I'm looking for reasurance that life can be 'normal' again and that it doesn't have to be all about cancer !
Many Thanks for reading xx

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Beaches33 although I'm sorry about your diagnosis.

It's always difficult coming to terms with a cancer diagnosis; even more so with a rare one but I want you to know you're not alone as we there are a few discussions about this on the forum which you can join in on by entering the diagnosis in the 'search forum' option in the blue bar above.

He hasn't been on the forum for a while but I'm going to tag [@Cavecrawler]‍ in this post as he has just celebrated his 10 year survivor anniversary so fingers crossed he'll pop by when he can to offer his reassurance and share his experiences.

We have some information about psuedomyxoma peritonei on our website if you'd like to find out more about it but our cancer nurses are just a phone call away if you'd like to discuss this with them as well. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Kind regards,
