I just saw your post and wanted to say hello and that I understand how you feel.

I am 40 and on the 2nd April went to the breast clinic about a lumpy area in my boob that I fully expected would turn out to be benign, it was in fact Grade 2 Invasive Ductal Breast cancer.

A complete shock and to be honest I thought there must be a mistake. It's still early days and I still have some test results to come in but I am trying to be positive and trust in the NHS team who so far have been fabulous.

This morning I am going in for my lumpectomy and sentinel lymph node biopsy, I'm a bit nervous but trying to see it as the first step on the road to recovery.

If I am very lucky I will just need Hormone therapy and Radiotherapy after that.

Hi, thanks for replying. That sounds very similar to me. I'm 38, grade 3. They haven't mentioned what'll happen after radiotherapy yet, i've got my ore op assessment monday. Really hope your op goes well today, I'll be thinking of you xx

I hope your Pre Op goes well today.

I had my surgery on Thursday and it was absolutely fine, nothing to worry about at all :)

I went into hospital at 10.30am and had my radio active tracer injected at 11.30am, in theatre at 3pm out by 4.30 and awake and back on the ward at 5.30pm.

Home at 8pm, I felt a bit tired and woosy for a day ( but i think that was the co codamol which I stopped taking on Friday and switched to paracetamol) the pain is very minor and I am healing well.

Now need to wait until next week for the pathology results of the lump and the nodes - fingers crossed it all comes out as clear margins with clear lymph nodes too!

I am trying not to worry too much about it but it is tricky!!

I'm so glad it went well, I had my pre op assessment today and met the mcmillan nurse, she was so lovely. Thank you for letting me know how it went, wishing you good results when you get them xxx

Thank you I've already had the biopsy to the lump and one of the nodes, that node came back clear but having the lumpectomy and they're removing the sentinel node and at least one other on the 29th. How are you feeling? x
