Mum Misdiagnosed

I am livid. My mother has been wrongly diagnosed with primary bowel cancer and liver spread when in reality it is stomach! I have been in tears all day. She is slipping away from us day by day she's not eating anything much and is very down. They say she will still get treatment as soon as possible but if it doesn't work it will be palliative only and hospice care. I'm devastated. My world is crashing down around me I know bowel cancer is bad enough but stomach is worse. Could this have been caused by H pylori ?? She had H pylori years ago.

  • My heart goes out to you and your family.

Big hugs to you all and your mother.

I know the NHs are scrapped for cash but this is unacceptable, I wonder if you have a case of medical negligence here?

I don't know if H pylori is related to stomach cancer. My sister had it, she thought she had an ulcer and I mentioned H pylori years ago, but she only got the medication for itt about 3-4 years ago.

Again, hugs to the whole of your family.

  • Hello hopetobecancerfree

l find it sadly unfortunate that you reached for the term medical negligence with no real understanding of the facts involved, and presumably little Medical training or ability to allow for such a statement. It seeks to cast a poor reflection upon the dedicated staff across the country that put their all into curing and helping their patients deal with this terrible condition. ,l,along with so many others have over the years met a great many of them, who  day in, day out, continue to give of their very best. Sometimes it becomes easier to shoot the messenger than the offender in times of stress.

There are very little certainties in life, but the one l am sure of is that without them, there would be a great deal more misery in peoples lives, and they deserve much better than a post of this nature. This said l wish you well and felt it just needed saying to put some degree of balance back into an emotive issue, at a time of unbelievable stress for those directly involved, and myself and all the other contributors on this forum will join with you in sending our deepest regrets at such an awful time

  •  Hi David

I am so sorry to offend you during this terrible time.

I must have misunderstood your post, I took it to read that your mum had been diagnosed with cancer in the wrong part of her body.

That is why I mentioned medical negligence, so sorry.

Yes, these people have a vocation to care for people with this terrible illness.

Please accept my apologies, it was really a misunderstanding, I don't know the full facts of your case, was just reaching out to give you a hug and what I thought was a helpful suggestion, but feel awful for upsetting you all.

  • Hello again,

you are getting mixed up, ,the original post was from lhatecancer1988, l was responding to your reply to that post.

We can all agree that it is an awful time of intense pain and anguish that lhatecancer1988 is coming to terms with, and send them all our understanmding,

                                                                                                                                                            david

  • Sorry once again David, I am under a lot of stress, not just because of awaiting results, lots of other things, not just covid either, so I am messing up all over the place.

It's not an excuse to upset anyone though. Apologies all round.
