Hodgkin Lymphoma - positive mid PET scan

Hi all,

I am 27 years old and was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma stage 3 in late December and started my treatment in January which is 6 cycles ABVD. I did not have a PET scan prior to treatment as the Lymohoma in my chest and neck was impacting on my breathing. I have not long since had my interim PET scan to see if the chemotherapy has been working. Unfortunately the results of the scan were that the lymphoma has shrunk but still active. My consultant has recommended continuing with ABVD however the chance of achieving remission has now reduced - 40%?. It was felt that BEACOP chemo wasnt the right option for me at the moment due to the risks associated and also the current situation with COVID-19.

I am quite disheartened with my PET scan results and a lot of tears have been shed however I'm back to thinking positive. I was wondering if anyone else has been in a similar situation as me? (Hopeful there is still a chance of the ABVD working).

I understand that if I only achieve partial remission of the lymohoma next step is likely to be a stem cell transplant... trying to not think about this yet though.

:)

  • Hi

I have just had my 2nd pet scan, got my results back 2 days ago, and my cancer has spread to the right hand side of neck and active cells in my groin, along with the original limp lump has shrunk but not  completely gone. I have to go for more biopsies and then wait on the results. They are hopeful radiation on both sides of my neck will help. Along with yourself tears have been shed and disheartened by the results.
