Tongue Cancer

im a 36 year old male and have just been diagnosed with tongue cancer. I have a small lump about the size of half a pea on the side of my tongue.

i have been for my CT scan and the surgeon says it looks good. He is hoping that it can just be cut out, but may need to have my lymph nodes removed too, but is hopeful that it can just be cut out.

i love my wife very much but she has a bad habit of investing in too stuff. She has found something saying that even after it has been removed that I may only have up to 5 years to live as it was tongue cancer.

i would be very grateful if there was someone on here who has either had tongue cancer or knows what this is all about?

Your more than welcome. Just remember that your not alone. As worrying as it is and as tough as it is try to think positive. Hopefully your results will come back negative.

Hi sorry to hear of your diagnosis, I hope you are recovering well. I have had for the last 5 days or so a lump where my foliate papillae is, feels like there is a weird taste coming from it too. I showed my doctor yesterday and she wasn't concerned, but I keep reading people stories and it's making me really worried. Especially as I have a pea size lump in my neck too same side, I am havihn an ultrasound on it. The lump came up on my neck before my tongue. The lump was sore for the first 3 days but isn't that sore now just keeps giving off a weird taste! I'm really worried. Please can you give me some advice or reassurance. Xx
