Breast cancer

Hi everyone I have just been diagnosed with breast cancer ductal  carcinoma I have an appointment to see my surgeon tomorrow I'm assured I can be cured and when reading up on it it's the most common breast cancer it was found during a routine mamagram can anyone shed a light on what happens now is it just surgery or do I need radiotherapy I asked if I needed chemo bit she said it's highly unluckily hoping you are all well regards

  • Hi,

im so sorry that you have had this awful news, but breast cancer is so cureable now they know so much about it,I'm sure somebody on here will help you.

ive just been though this process myself luckily mine can turn cancerous if left, so they going to take my 4cm lump out, then I suppose it will go for biopsy and keeping my fingers crossed it will be sorted.

please don't worry the waiting time goes so much quicker if you have a positive attitude, I know some people cant do that and that's where this web site is brilliant.

    thinking of you

  • Hi Sandra,

Saw consultant today, theyre still waiting for another test to come back, but after a meeting today with oncologist & drs he said they were all in agreement that i should start chemotherapy, hopefully the oncologist can see me next week & get the treatment started. I was hopeful that i wouldnt have to have chemo but its in lymph nodes under arm & i have a couple of nodes behind breast bone that they're treating as suspicious.

Heads all over the place again, such a mix of emotions going through this which I'm sure you ll understand.

    How's things going with you?

    Take care

  • Hi, i was 29 and 14 or so weeks pregnant when i was diagnosee woth triple negative, ductual cancer with lymphnode involvement.

Its a scary thing to be told at the best of times, let alone with all thats happening atm too.

My treatment plan was chemotherapy to shrink, surgery to remove and the radio to make sure it was all gone, although mixed it up a little due to family (new baby) commitments and not coping too well with little to no sleep.

Back to my chemo now after surgery last month, which i found easier to deal with over the chemotherapy, but that could be because i now have 4 children during lockdown and no respite from screaming children.

I hope i havnt waffled on and if theres anything i can do to help or any questions you may have im more than happy to try and help out xx
