I'm so sorry to hear that your partner has been given a cancer diagnosis this week. It's understandable that you're feeling in shock and have so many questions. I'm sure that the appointment next week will given the Consultants more information and hopefully you won't have to wait too long then for more information. 

It's easy for things to feel over whelming at the moment and although I know it's much easier said than done, try to take things in small steps. Sometimes it can help to write down all your thoughts and questions so that they're not stuck running round your mind on a continual loop. 

I'm going to suggest that you give our team of nurses a call. They very well be able to help answer some of the questions that you have but I know they will also be able to offer some advice and support for you both. Give them a call on 0808 800 4040. They're available Mon-Fri 9am to 5pm.
