Coronavirus

My husband of 81 has been diagnosed with bowel cancer. Had biopsies, MRI and CT scans. Medics discussing his case on Monday 16th March. We will then know what happens next. How will the Coronavirus affect his hospitalistion, and after care. Will he be able to have visitors. We know of cases of the virus in our borough. Just want to know what I can doto protect him. I'm 69 with underline health problems too. Any advice would be welcome

  • Hi Nancy and welcome to Cancer Chat.

I'm sorry about your husband's diagnosis and the worries you have about the coronavirus.

I hope this information we have on our website will help answer some of your questions but you're welcome to give our cancer nurses a call next week if you'd like to discuss this in more detail. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Best wishes to you both,

  • Hi Nancy,

I don't think you will be allowed into hospital with him if you have under lining problems,

But I would ring hospital before he goes in to make sure,I know most hospitals are only open to oncology care, and emergency's of course, but ring and ask as many questions as you can, maybe write them out before you ring, best of luck and be careful, regards Angie!
