Just been told my mum has stage 4 lung cancer

Around a month ago my mum got a lump on her lymph node almost overnight. The GP and hospital were great and everything got rushed through. After a biopsy we found out she has cancer but not what type, so she was sent for a CT scan and today we found out she has lung cancer that's spread to the middle of her chest, her lymph node and her liver. This was the ENT clinic so apparently now we wait to see the lung specialist. All we've been told is it's stage 4 and very advanced and when we mentioned treatments he said perhaps there will be a trial. This makes me think it's too advanced to treat. I don't know what to do or what to think, I'm just scared to death of losing my mum. I'm 29 and just going through the process of buying my first house. I don't want to be moving out in the middle of this if we don't have much time left.

  • Hi Popsyjasp

Breathe lovely. My children are your age and we found out in Jan that my husband (their dad) has stage 4 lung cancer that has gone to liver.

It's not operable but he is now day 9 of his first chemo, and the first in our area to have the new treatments that are 2 x chemo and immunotherapy as well as targeted. There are so many new treatments available and the oncology team will go thru them with your mum.

I know how I feel, and watch the pain in our kids eyes, but they are now on board with the positive attitude of the team and we'll need to all hope for the best

Lots of people here to support you too

    X
