VATS lobectomy didn’t happen

Hi

My husband was meant to have a VATS lobectomy last Monday - his right upper lobe - but they couldn’t proceed because of cancer deposits in his pleural fluid - we thought the tumour and node was 1B and now it is an unknown. I am so worried - we are seeing a new doctor (oncologist)  on Thursday - and they said chemo might be the way forward. It seems a long time since first suspicion of cancer on Dec 23.

They have taken five biopsies - does anyone know when treatment can start? He is sore from the drain coming out and came out of hospital yesterday. Has anyone got any advice or been through something similar? Thank you.

  • Hi Ebba,

I'm sorry to read about the difficulties your husband has been going through recently. Unfortunately I'm unable to advise on this and it's unlikely that anyone here can advise on treatment - the best thing will be to wait for your appointment and discuss everything then. I'm glad to see it's not too much longer for you to wait for that.

Meanwhile if anyone here has any similar experience to share then hopefully they'll be along soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
