Benign result from breast lumpectomy after positive biopsy?

Hi,

has anyone had a benign result from breast lumpectomy after positive biopsy?

I was diagnosed with a fibroadenoma 5 years ago, this lump dissapeared a couple of years ago. Just before christmas I noticed it was back.

I had it checked the consultant said if felt innocent, but he had it checked with a mamogram and ultrasound. The radiolgist said it look exactly like the last time but took a FNA and he could just send the results in a letter. However a couple of weeks later I was called back for a core biopsy after the FNB was inconclusive.

That came back a infiltrating invasive adenocarcinoma core grade 2, ER+PR+ Her2 -. The consultant was suprised by this result and again said it did not feel like a cancer.

I have a lumpectomy next week to remove the small lump but i just wondered how many suspected cancer turn out to benign when removed?

Thanks
