Hi,

When newly diagnosed you are in shock and it takes some time for it to sink in. On one hand it's cancer, however your melanoma has been caught very early so there is a 95% chance that you will have no further problem after your wide local excision. You will be monitored with regular check ups for a short time so you will start to get back to normal with the added advantage of any changes being picked up quickly. 'Normal" will also include you regularly checking any other moles you have and for any lumps that appear (you will be shown how to do this). Also, it will make you more aware about sun safety.
