After beating BC twice, mum now has oesophageal cancer

My mum first got cancer in 2000 in her breast, again in 2010 in her other breast then here we are 10 years on 2020 and she has oesophagus cancer which is terminal & has spread to two glands near by, surgery isn't an option but chemotherapy has been offered which she is due her 3rd batch next week with daily tablets too

Even with the chemotherapy they have given her 6/12 months, I was just wondering if anyone similar has or is going through the same horrible experience and how long they had with their loved ones,

My head and heart is in bits, she has lost a few stone and now weights just under 6 stone,

How do/did you cope, I just can't imagine my world without her X

Thanks for reading

Sending love to all X

  • Hi Anne,

I’m so sorry to hear about your mum. She has been through an awful lot over the past 20 years and now this.

My mam was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer in October after having symptoms for a few months.

All I can say is that you just cope. It’s going to be tough but you’re stronger than you think. I found this forum really helpful as well as the UK oesophageal cancer fb page.

I found with my mam being as positive as possible really helped her mentally. She also didn’t want to know too much information about her diagnosis so she could stay positive. Everybody is different. I just listened to my mam and supported her.

If you need to chat please just message me.

Take care, I’ll be thinking of you and your mum.

    Tricia x
