3mm fallopian tube cancer - what can I do?

Hi there

I'm 43, no children and a BRCA1 carrier.

My mum passed away from fallopian tube cancer in 2012 at 59 years old and my auntie is still battling it.

To prevent it, I decided to remove tubes and ovaries on January the 8th. Unfortunately they could only remove my tubes and found endometriosis. The histology test showed a grade 3, 3mm fallopian tube cancer in my left tube.

Now they want to do a radical hysterectomy on 5 March and possibly chemo after.

I don't know what to do... some friends say it seems too much and radical and I should consider alternatives... I'm feeling confused and would appreciate advice from people who might have had a similar experience. Anyone out there please?

Thank you

  • hi I am so sorry about your diagnosis, I cant tell you much about fallopian cancer as I have breast cancer but I would assume that given your family history that your in the high risk category also that you have brca1 gene, I have breast cancer so dont really understand fallopian cancer but ovarian cancer is linked to breast cancer so once I finish my active treatment I will be having my ovarys removed I'm a married mother of 4 children and I'm 32 so whilst this is very young my breast cancer is er and pr positive and also I have no family history of breast cancer at all. the reason I will have my ovarys removed is because estrogen is making my cancer grow and since I've had my children and also elected to have my tubes tied 8 years ago so my surgeon will happily let me have that type of surgery simply put because I dont need them anymore and since I'll be on hormone blockers of some sort it sort of makes sense in my case,  I will say that if your surgeon is saying that he/ she thinks that a hysterectomy is the best option for you personally then I would definalty listen to them as they have your best interests at heart, only you can decide if you want to go down this route but if your unsure of what theres reasoning is please call your consultant or cancer nurse xx
