Soft Tissue Sarcoma

My wife has just been diagnosed with a soft tissue sarcoma on her knee. She should of gone to see a doctor some time ago.

She has undergone the various scans and has been treated for low red cell blood count. The NHS has been very good so far.

Now waiting for a biopsy and meeting with consultant.

Two questions:

Is there any advantage to going private?

Our son is recommending to cut out all sugar from diet, use oxygen regularly and cannabis to shrink the growth. What would you recommend to best prepare for the journey ahead please.

  • Hi,

I was diagnosed with synovial sarcoma which is a form of soft tissue sarcoma which is rare and usually found near the knee, mine was on my right knee. I had 6 weeks of radiation therapy to the affected area, during radiation you are told some skin damage and redness can occur but mine remained intact pretty much, a tip is to moisturise the area well. I then had surgery the following month to remove my tumour, it is now 3 years since my op and I have not had any recurrence yet, to start with I had chest x-rays every 3 months and last July (2019) they downgraded to 6 monthly (positive move I guess). Personally I just followed my doctors advice and recommend doing the same, I was also treated by the NHS not private and they did a fantastic job. I wish all the best for your wife and your family as a whole. Best wishes x

  • Hi. Sorry to jump on but I also have a pelvic lump that is hard and painful. The consultant has mentioned inflammation in my report but I’m waiting on MRI results at the moment. I just wondered if you could update me on your situation please? Hope you are well x

  • I'm sorry you're in this difficult stage of waiting for results Tasha and that you were hoping to hear back from Nana26.

Unfortunately Nana26 hasn't been on the forum in a while now, and as this discussion was last active 4 years ago, there's a chance you may not get a reply.

I'll have my fingers crossed they do come back to update you on their situation but in the meantime, we're thinking of you Tasha and wishing you all the best with your results when they come through.

    Kind regards,
