Children after cancer treatment.

Hello, my girlfriend is about to go through chemo and radiotherapy to her pelvic area to treat ovarian cancer. The tumours have been removed but from what I understand she's having 25 days of radiotherapy and 5 days of chemo to be doubly sure.

When we spoke to the consultant a few weeks ago she informed us we would need to harvest some eggs before treatment began as after treatment the ovaries would be for display purposes only. However in our second appointment with another consultant he informed us that my girlfriend would sadly never carry a child, whilst surrogacey is an option the whole inability to carry a child was news to us. I just wanted to come on here to double check as to whether this is true that she won't be able to even carry a child and if so, why that is the case?

Thanks in advance,

Harry
