invasive ductal breast cancer treatment advice

good afternoon,

I got told yesterday that i have triple negative breast cancer or invasive ductual carcinoma grade 3. Waiting for a CT scan monday to see if its spread anywhere else. Im BRCA1 positive which was only diagnosed before xmas and wasnt expecting this so quickly :(

It appears the doctors have been debating the best cause of treatment and have given me the following options.

Chemo then a double masectomy

lumpectomy and then chemo

Masectomy and then chemo.

I was considering a preventative double masectomy after being diagnosed with BRCA. Just wondering what others have been through with the same condition. Unfortunately one of my lymph nodes also tested positive from the biposy. I am very scared of the cancer spreading so leaning more towards chemo first. You are all very supportive and wonderful. THank you.

  • Hiya, I hope you are keeping ok.

mine was grade 2 idc with positive lymph node. My gene test came back fine but personally if I had the gene I would have the double mastectomy.

i had a lumpectomy now halfway through chemo with radiotherapy to follow.

waiting on my gene test for ovarian cancer and again if it comes back positive I will have them removed (I'm 35).

they found a shadow on a chest X-ray so just had a full body bone scan and chest and neck ct scan. Waiting on the results and it's awful having to wait.

the best thing to do is one step at a time. I've always followed the consultants advice but don't be afraid to push for what you feel is better xxx
