Final stages of glioblastoma

Hi all,

I was diagnosed with grade 4 glioblastoma of the temporal lobe 5 weeks ago, and had the craniotomy surgery. Next week i begin 6 weeks of radio and chemo.

Whilst the hospital have explained what it is, the fact there is no cure, it WILL come back and all the stats around life expectancy, what i dont know is how it eventually will be it.

I know no-one has a crystal ball and things are unique person to person, but if anyone could share any knowledge they have i would be incredibly greatful.

Not sure if it actually makes any difference, but im a 29 year old male, would say active lifestyle.

I guess im trying to get my head around, am i just going to drop dead one day? Or will there be weeks/months of declining symptoms, of which ill be spending my final days in a hospital bed...

  • Hi Danb,

So sorry to hear about your diagnosis, being only a year older than yourself, I can't imagine how difficult this time must be for you.

I don't really have that much experience in this area but I can point you to lots of useful information from Braintrust here, who do have a lot of experience with these types of cancer.

Feel free to reply if you want to talk - sometimes it's easier to discuss some things with people you don't know. And I'm sure other people with experiences like yours may turn up as well.

    Sending you my best wishes.
