ive had bowel cancer, had surgery followed by chemo, this was five years ago.  Each individual is different but I found I definitely could not eat nuts it threw my stumpy into spasms.  High fibre might be too difficult straight after surgery and therefore you might wish to start with a low fibre diet, white pasta, cream crackers, cornflakes, rich tea biscuits, vegetables and fruit.  Try high calorie and protein too like meat, fish and eggs.  Eat small and frequently.  Drink plenty fluids.  Reduce caffeine.  Chew your food well.

It does get better, keep fit ie walks etc and listen to your body.
