Diagnosed with Nasal cancer

Seen the Consultant and a few more that were in the room.  Told I have nasal cancer T1 which they told me it is very early and curable.  Fortunately it has not spread anywhere else, they did an ultrasound on my neck to make sure and it was clear.  Hospital on 16th December for removal, I have been told it will change my face a bit but they would try to be not too invasive.  They will do reconstruction on my septum, as it will be removed at a later date.

i haven't come across anyone else yet that has suffered with this type of cancer.

  • Hi yorkiegirl,

I'm sorry to read this although glad to see the positives that it is early and curable.

I hope everything goes OK with the appointment in December.

If anyone here has similar experience, hopefully they'll be along soon. Otherwise, do use this forum as much as you'd like to write down any worries or thoughts - it's a very understanding community of people.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • Hi Ben,

Thanks for reading.  Just worried about how I will look, especially to my two youngest grandchildren whom I usually see every week.  I don't want to scare them.  It's just hard to explain to a 3 and 4 year old.  My daughter talks about it all the time to my grandson 4 but my granddaughter who is 3 and being assessed for autism is rather difficult.   Hopefully I will not look as bad as I think, doing the worse case senario.  Not long now, it's the waiting that gets to you isn't it.

    Thanks again,

  • Hi Yorkiegirl, I have  cancer in my nose/ sinus not sure exactly. I have just had a ct scn and MRI and have an appointment on the 31 March.  I am going mad with worry, how did things turn out with you?  I am so worried about disfigurement.

    Many thanks

    Lyn

  • Hi can I ask what your symptoms were please

  • Hi Dan-89,

Yes you can I started with what I thought was a sinus infection although my skin was pulling a bit under the front of my nose.  I went to my dr who wasn't there so I saw a locum who just give me tablets and said put Vaseline under your nose.  I took the tablets for about 4 days and used the Vaseline which was obviously no good as my skin was pulling more under the front of my nose. Plus I kept having a nose bleed and crispy snot and stuff in my left nostril.  I then went again to see my dr who took one look had a look in and referred me straight to ENT.  The Consultant had a look in my nose and I could tell it was something not right.   I know it's very difficult with this as there aren't many of us around.  Have you checked the MacMillan site I am on there too under Wakeygirl. There are about 12/14 of us with different   Scenarios and a few have us have had our noses removed.  I hope this is helpful. Give me a shout if you get across to MacMillan.

  • Thanks for the quick reply I've had a stuffy nose for a while no nose bleeds but I have a painful scab inside my nose I have stupidly picked it and it didn't bleed but I have really bad ear pain too I feel sick with worry I have 3 disabled children so I don't get many chances to get to the doctors as I am constantly at appointments with the children I don't get much time for me I had a bit of numbness in my face also I seen these are symptoms of late stages and I feel so sick right now I havnt had the nose bleeds or stuffiness in just one nostril I get stuffiness in both my doctors is closed tomorrow can I go the walk in centre will they help at all

  • I should say I have had this scab for around 2 weeks does everyone with nasal cancer have nose bleeds?

  • Hi, there are usually nosebleeds, mucus running from your nose, blocked nose at one side, mucus running down the back of your throat.  This is a very rare cancer so if I was you I would go to the walk in centre just to put your mind at rest.

  • Hi did you manage to go to the walk-in

  • Hi yes I went today she said she couldn't see any sign of infection in my nose or ear she also couldn't see the scab in my nose she done some small checks to check my brain function and they they was all fine she said for me to goto the doctors on Monday and ask to be refared to ent for fether investigation so basically I am still where I was yesterday I keep going dizzy and off balance I have been like this fir a while now but as a mum of 3 disabled children they just keep putting it down to stress am so worried that they will miss something I also asked her to check a lump under my arm she said it looked like an ingrown hair x
