Hi, I’m so sorry to hear about your mom. My dad passed away Monday with Lung cancer and brain mets.  I can only imagine how devastated you all are regarding your moms diagnosis as were we and are. Prognosis is not good once it goes to brain, I too was constantly reading up on it and tried to grab on to every bit of hope. I’m devastated and am just feeling numb at present. Hope all goes o.k with your appointments.

Hi my mum was given the news she had stage 4 lung cancer and it was inoperable very aggressive and very short life expectancy she was offered chemo to give her a few more weeks but they did not think it would do much mum decided to have it .!!!! Thank goodness she did unexpectedly the cancer shrank more than they expected then she had radiotherapy this then sealed the cancer it was still inoperable but none active  this was now nearly 18 years ago  so sometimes it does work mum since got the cancer back 6 years ago in the same lung only this time it was a different cancer from the last one , she had a pet scan which they never had all them years ago  this time they could see they might be able to take out she had the op and they removed part of the lung and this is now 6/7 years ago  mum was 57 when she was first diagnosed and given 6 months with chemotherapy she is now 77  please don't give up take everything they can offer you never know if my mum hadn't she wouldn't be here 20 years later xx

Thank you for letting me know about your Mum and glad she's managed to push it back so many times ️. Unfortunately Mum has always been in the mindset about never taking any kind of medication so even taking steroids at the moment to keep the brain tumour at bay is a stretch for her. I'm hoping that as she's receptive to hear them maybe they'll be able to convince her... We shall see come next week. Xx

That’s great news about your mom, wished my story was the same but there is a huge difference and outcome once spread to the brain x

My mum started Gemcarbo on Friday last week (she is T4,N0,M0 squamous, inoperable) and I know it's early days but so far so good, no apparent side effects just yet. We spoke to lots of patients in the chemo unit and there really weren't many horror stories and the nurses were really helpful and took a LONG time explaining that Mum should not expect to see a big difference in her quality of life, she might slow down a little or have a few off days but hopefully nothing more. Maybe going into the chemo unit before you make a final decision would help your mum see it's not as scary as it seems? Good luck to you all and try to take care of yourself as well as everyone else ️
