Cancer has struck again

So my Nan passed away three months ago from ovarian cancer and it seems cancer has taken a liking to my family and now my poor aunty has lung cancer, waiting on test results hopefully it's been caught early on. But I just keep thinking when will it leave us alone? It's such a nasty disease and I'm just filled with anger this is  happening for my cousin to potentially lose her mother and her children to lose a grandparent it's not fair. Why can't it leave us alone?

  • Sorry to hear this.

When we are affected by cancer it seems to be only us, why us? It's not fair.. etc.

Since my diagnosis 5 years ago and again last year, you become more aware of just how many people have actually got or have survived it. Much more common than I ever imagined.

Some people are not able to be cured but so so many now are beating the disease or living with it and are being kept stable by new trials.

I hope your Aunty has been diagnosed early and whatever treatment she has is a success. x

    Hi Pandaph,

I am so sorry to hear that your family has been struck again. I agree with Ineedabreak's comment "Since my diagnosis 5 years ago and again last year, you become more aware of just how many people have actually got or have survived it. Much more common than I ever imagined" If we go by what they tell us on television these days, 50% of people have it, so there are not many families who are untouched by cancer in some way or another.

I lost my mother, father, father-in-law, several other family members and close friends to it and, have had 2 bouts of breast cancer myself in the past 10 years.

I sincerely hope that your aunt has been caught early and, that her cancer is curable.

Please keep in touch and let us know how she gets on. We are always here for both of you.
    Kind regards.

    Jolamine xx
