Mum diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma - inoperable advice?

Hi everyone,

I have found out today, my mum has been diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma. Sadly given 3 months as hers is inoperable. Maybe up to 11 months with Chemo.
We have only found that she had a problem with her liver 3 weeks ago! And then found the diagnosis out today! As a family, like everyone else it's heartbreaking. Devastating.
I'm on here, looking for a little advice, and if there any other other people out there that can share their experiences/treatment. Offer a little support - anything.
Right now, I'm finding myself googling everything- probably the worst thing to do!

Thank you.

  • MI’m sorry to hear your news, I felt to reply yet I’m not a professional so, please look into things for your self too.

People can srink tumors naturally, there are Many routes Like Water Fasting, Juice Fasting, Urine Therapy, frugavour diet or Dr Robert Morses lymphatic drainage system or The Gerson Therapy.

    Hope this helps your mum.

  • Hi Chelsiex

My dad, who is 78, has also been diagnosed with what they think is Cholangiocarcinoma (the biopsy wasn't conclusive), he has a large tumour in his liver and 2 mets in his spine and has now developed a melanoma on his head. His only symptoms are sciatica and a back ache, which he's had for 10 months. He has been told months but we've no idea roughly how many. He is now on palliative chemo, GemCis with no nasty side effects so far apart from tiredness. He and my mum are living with me because my mother had dementia and he can't cope with his illness and hers. I am really struggling to look after them both, with all the appointments etc, the hospital is an hour and a half drive away and we have to go there twice a week. I am also finding it so hard not knowing how long he has left, he doesn't want to know and the docs won't tell me.

Anyway enough about our situation, so very sorry to hear your mum has been diagnosed too but there is lots they can do and it's very early days for you guys so in the next few weeks I am sure you will have an idea of the plan and you will feel better knowing that you're moving forward.

Good luck and love to you both x

  • Hi Min.b

Firstly I am sorry to hear you are going through this, and I send my love to you and your family at this difficult time.

My mum is 55, and has been very quickly diagnosed with this after having tests for the past two-three weeks. She started to lose her appetite and became violently sick in September, causing her to dramatically lose weight. Doctors put it down to her just being unwell and Antibiotics were given. Further tests and scans were done and she was diagnosed with liver lesions. Last week she had a liver biopsy and yesterday we found out the dreadful news.

I have found a Facebook group for patients only called Cholangiocarcinoma Warriors, if your dad is on Facebook he may want to join. It is a great group, where everyone discusses treatments, experiences etc.

I read your Dad is having GemCis my mum is hoping to begin that. In a way I am pleased to hear there are no nasty side effects for your dad, that is one thing my mum is not looking forward to - if she chooses to go with the chemo. After looking extensively last night I have found there are trials happening for this type of cancer in Manchester and London. There is also a conference taking play from 13-15 may in Stansted for this type of cancer as it is so rare people don't know much, patients, families, friends can also attend.
I wish you and your family the very best and thank you for taking the time to respond to me. One bit of advice I can give is make sure you look after yourself too, find time for you as much as your parents. Xx
