Dcis diagnosis

Hi after a five week wait for the results and appointment I find I have dcis, I need a op to remove a small lump and my nipple and part is the breast, then wait for weeks for results from that surgery when I will need either radiotherapy or a full mastectomy , I'm feeling shocked, numb and angry only a year ago with similar symptoms I was told all is fine, I know I should be pleased that's its only pre cancerous but I can't help thinking my last hospital missed something. Finding it hard after a five week wait I had convinced myself all was well

  • Hello Gdawn,

I can completely understand how the news has come as a real shock to you and it's normal to experience these feelings of numbness and anger especially if you were told a year ago everything was fine. You have come to the right place though to meet others here who have been affected by DCIS and I hope some of our ladies will be along soon to talk to you and share their own story with you. We have information on our website on DCIS which you can find here and which I hope will be useful to you. If you have any questions at any point, our nurses are available on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

I thought I would put you in touch with a couple of our ladies who have had this diagnosis before and who will understand exactly how you are feeling at the moment. [@JadeGreen]‍ posted this thread recently and is going through a similar thing at the moment and described similar feelings to the ones you are experiencing at the moment. I hope you will hear from some of our members who have had a similar diagnosis. It helps to talk to others and to feel that you are not alone in this we are all there for you anytime you need to talk.

    Best wishes,
