Breast Cancer 29

Good morning all

I am 29 years old with three gorgeous children a lovely fella. Just over a week ago I went to the doctors about a change in my breast and was referred to the breast clinic to be on the safe side. I had my appointment yesterday and while in with the doctor was told everything was ok and sent for a scan, I go into the scan to be told they have found a lump and want to take a biopsy from the breast and lymph nodes. I have a wobble and break down crying and shaking and panicking all through the procedure and after go and see he doctor who tells me it does not look bening and to being my partner with me for my results and plenty treatments available. I’m a utter wreck and keep feeling pains elsewhere thinking it’s spread and as of nearly 5am this morning have not slept at all and cannot calm my anxieties. Has anyone had similar or have any rips to help me not get so worked up xxx

  • I found I was having pains everywhere, worried about this throat thing so just taking ibuprofen at the mo and see if it goes.

Not sure when I will start got to wait for an oncologist appointment to come through then ask them when it starts. They did say because I was classed as young to have bc that chemo and radio may be a preventative rather than just radio.

I found waiting was awful and got myself in a right state. The link actually come back smaller than they thought at 16mm rather than 23mm so hopefully that might happen to you.

  • Hello, so sorry to hear about your diagnosis, it is perfectley natural to feel they way you do in the first few days or week. It is a lot to absorb however it will settle, the panicky feelings will become less.

You may have lots of thoughts a feelings don't be afraid to voice them and if you need, talk to the professionals like GP Breast care  nurses they have lots of experience and can explain most symptoms,  they are there to help. Since my diagnosis 2 weeks ago I think I have had 3 GP appoointments to talk about lots of aches and pains that I had and thought it was cancer that had spread. They have been great and did some inital investigations which were negative which  really helped to settle my anxiety.

There are some many treatments now that successfully treat all types, so get as much info and don't be afraid to ask questions.

I wish you all the best with the follow up visit, once you know what you are dealing with you will start to feel stronger

    All the best

  • Thank you so much I’ll see if I can get in tomorow I haven’t had much of a appetite and noticed some weight loss not a lot but it’s there. I’m just in shock complete and utter shock go through times of being ok then I’ll just break and shake so much which may have caused my pain xx

  • Hi

Its completely understandable to be worried about chemo. I was very anxious about it, as it’s the unknown and although they tell you possible side effects you don’t actually know how you will  react.  I’ve finished my chemo 3 weeks ago, it’s tough but completely doable, I had 6 cycles altogether, the biggest side effect for me has been joint pain and fatigue. When you know more I’m happy to share my experience and what helped etc.

    Take care

  • Hi again

The stress and loss of appetite can definately cause the weight loss, your body is under constant stress.  i lost 2-3 kg in the first 10 days after I was told, but that has stopped and even put a littel back on this week.

I know its hard to accept but the strain and stress just produce physical symptoms it how our bodies cope and you will be hyper sensitive to everything. Remember to tell yourself this and definately talk to the Bc nurses, face to face conversation really can make the difference.

Keeping you in our thoughts, alway here

    xx

  • Thank you! Yes I think I will want to know more but think I’ll wait till I’ve seen my oncologist.

I think it’s just a shock as I was hoping so much that it would just be radio. Chemo is not what I wanted but if it prevents it coming back then I’ve got to do it especially for my husband and my baby girl xx

  • Hi guys just thought I’d update my results came back Friday and am booked in to see consultant Thursday trying to keep mind of everything and hoping for positive results. Got a horrible cough and cold think I’ve got a chest infection so that will keep me busy lol. How is everyone getting on x

  • Morning,

so have they confirmed BC?  How you feeling? They will prob send you for an MRI next, well that’s what happened to me, then you’ll go back and he will say how big it measures then book you in for surgery. Did you have an ultrasound on your lymph nodes? They managed to get me a cancellation MRI literally the Friday after I was diagnosed on the Wednesday then went back to see him to talk surgery on the Wednesday after panel.

Once you’re in the system the weeks tick by. The only problem is once they think of the next step it they have to discuss it at a weekly panel meeting which is a pain.

Since I was diagnosed on the 14th Aug I’ve had MRI, surgery, results and my lump sent to America so when you think a lot has happened every week.

Hoping it will be the same for you just alit of to and fro to the hospital. Xx

  • Hi I’ve had no confirmation I have wait till Thursday which is a absolute pain is the MRI to look to see if it has spread ? I had my lymph nodes scanned and a biopsy a week ago x

  • The MRI gives a more accurate picture of the lump and he could see the size of it. Yes he can also see where else it is. From my MRI they picked up a small dot of something in my other breast so had to go and have another ultrasound and biopsy that same day.when the radiographer looked though it was that small he couldn’t find it so said it was probably because the MRI is so sensitive this can sometimes worry you for no reason.  He did find some abnormal looking tissue though, not a lump just tissue that looked diff. I had another sample taken. I went back the following week to talk surgery and find out those results. He said they were nothing so that was good.

Hoping yourcresults come back all clear but if not be reassured there are people around to get help from. I found it hard going through this at my age and with a small baby but actually there are quite a lot of people in the same boat. X
