Chemo for stage 4 breast cancer and then what

Hi I am on weekly Paclitaxel for stage 4 breast cancer spread only to the lungs. But I am responding well my cough has disappeared and the lump in my breast is smaller.I don't have any side effects except thinning hair.I have started the treatment 8 weeks ago but I would like to know what's happening after I have finished chemo.I don't have a very good oncologists and I don't bother to ask because I don't trust them.I have my plans to go for private mastectomy  and lung surgery if there is something left because I am young and I don't know why I should walk around with the lump in the body.I feel physically really fit.

Any experience would be grateful

  • I'm really glad to see you've had such a good response to the paclitaxel Denise although I'm sorry for how you feel about your oncologists. They are the ones to speak to if you want to find out what happens next but you could try getting a second opinion as well.

Hopefully some of our members who are, or have been, in similar situations will share their experiences with you soon but our cancer nurses are just a phone call away if you'd like to chat with them. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Wishing you all the best with the next stage of your journey Denise.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Steph.thank you for the reply.I hate my oncologist they have such a graveyard attitude. They don't try help just trying me to book my funeral.I am only 42 and I don't know why I should sit at home with legs crossed and don't do nothing this is what makes me upset. Some doctors writing people off. Some of them they just can read statistics that's all.

Anyway I will go for a second opinion because every person and cancer is different they can't treat everybody same.
