New Diagnosis - pre-cancerous cells on soft palette

Hi, I've been diagnosed with pre cancerous cells on the soft palette.  A bit shocked but doing okay. Thankfully all my scans and Lymph nodes came back clear. 

I am due to go into hospital tomorrow to remove the precancerous cells tomorrow. It sounds horrendous the doctors are removing the right side from the roof of my mouth.  Just wandering if anyone has had the same surgery, what is the recovery like, is there a lot of pain and finally was your speech effected.

    I just wanted to check in and see how you got on with the removal of the pre-cancerous cells yesterday.

    Hi Steph

    Thank you for taking the time to ask how I am doing.  It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.  Nothing could be worse than the biopsy . It's more uncomfortable than painful which I am presently surprised by.  I have a clear plastic shield that goes over my top teeth and roof of mouth to protect the palette while it heals.

    Praying that the surgeon, who is a lovely man, has been able to remove it all and radiotherapy isn't needed.

    Not sure if there is a  chance you read this but i read through your posts about pre- cancerous cells being removed from your soft palale and as this was some time ago i am strugglign to find someone to relate to.  If you do by chance get to read this, can I ask when started your journey of investigation on your throat? what your symptoms were , where they were etc?
