A little over a year ago I didnt even know I will be having chemo and 2 surgeries and wearing wig for months due to losing hair. But today I am 5 month post my chemo and feeling great. Except of hot flushes that is a killer. I took my wig off which I was religiously wearing every day since I shaved my hair 2 weeks after my first chemo. My hair is very thick and short. I was terrified of chemo. And was hoping till last moment I wont need it. But I had to have it in the end. I had 6 EC. I did very well now I can say looking back....what I think that as awful as it is chemo wasnt as bad as I thought. And I still was living life doing what I was doing just not those first 5-6 days each time I had chemo. When I was feeling crap but never too bad. To my last chemo number 6 I drove myself. Parked 5 min walk from hospital. I was so exited to finish it. I didnt not care how I will feel after. I was just happy it is over. This made this last treatment so much more easier. Because it's also how we look at things how positive we feel about it. I am telling you you second chemo is gonna be done shortly and then it will be only 4 left. Do you have any hobbies? I love painting. And it helped me so much to go through. Please let me know how you get on and how you feel. Iam off to bed now. But will check for your comment later on in the morning. Thank you glad you you got through it. Last time I felt really ill have a pic line in, they tried to put the chemo through but went wrong , so went in the back of my hand, had a reaction after hand swelled up. I hope Wednesday they can use the pic line. finding hair loss very hard and find it hard going out , know I have to get used to it but can’t , I don’t want to see my head at all. I try to be positive but that’s not easy, lost my mum to cancer a few years ago , it was not easy to see , but she was so strong well she came over like that, it’s only when you get it that you realise just what it is like. I am of to bed now myself thank you for your reply, feel so alone in this , have my family but don’t like putting on people

You are doing really well, just think you will be two down soon. I’ve finished my 6th cycle two weeks ago, and it felt like a Marathon at the beginning. I ended up in hospital twice with a temp, and it is scary but they know what the are doing. 

My hair has started to grow back after cycle 5, early days as it’s just a few mm long but it shows that the hair loss and other side effects are temporary. 

The side effect that’s driven me bonkers is loss of taste, it’s driven me mad, and still hasn’t come back yet . 

Keep going, you can do this and we will help you through.
