Dad has prostate cancer and it has gone to 2 small bones

Hello

I was hoping someone may offer some advice.

My Dad was diagnosed last year at age 71 with prostate cancer. He will be 73 this year. He started having radiation treatment in the summer of last year. In February he had scan results come back saying that they had found two tiny amounts of cancer on two small bones in his back; the scan results took longer as it took the hospital a while to spot it because it was small.

He has been having hormone treatment and also takes a pill (no chemo as he has diabetes).

He doesn't speak about his diagnosis and I am scared to speak about it in case I upset him.

When I read online about prostate cancer that has gone to bones it says it has mestastised and is therefore advanced. I was just wondering if this is the case? I read that only 30% of men with advanced prostate cancer that has gone to bones live longer than 5 years.

I wasn't sure if his cancer is advanced and I don't wish to ask him in case I upset him.

:(
