My husband has recently been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer by a Urologist as a self funding private patient. He has been told he could choose Brachytherapy or Surgery as its Gleason 7 . He had decided to have a consultation with both a Private Oncologist and Private Surgeon to discuss these options further.

He’s just spoken to GP to fill him in and he’s intimated that once he goes down private route he won’t be able to have actual treatment on NHS. Is this correct ? Cost of either procedure would be prohibitive as self funding and we’ve both paid fully into the system all our working life.
