TCC in kidney - is it bladder or kidney cancer?

I’m part way through diagnostics and staging for a tumour in my left renal pelvis. It’s an incidental find picked up by a CT and the medicos keep saying “it’s unusual”. I’m 45yo female, non smoker. The latest update is I need a cystoscopy and biopsy as the MDT still seem to be scratching their heads.

I’m confused though...the kidney cancer books make no mention of TCC only RCC. Is this kidney or bladder cancer?

I want to do some more research and I’m unsure where to look/what to search under to get the most useful info on TCC in renal pelvis.

Many thanks all

  • Hi Granny Violet.

We've actually got some information about transitional cell cancer (TCC) on our website which I'm going to link for you here.

Having read through the website information and the information in your post I'm not sure that it will actually be able to answer your question at this point. It may be that you need to wait for the rest of your investigations and to be completed before the Dr is able to tell you where it has actually originated from. However I wonder if you might find it helpful to have a chat with our team of nurses. It's possible that they may be able to give you some additional support and information. You can call them on 0808 800 4040 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm).

I hope that you have some answers soon. Keep in touch Granny VIolet and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
