Anxiety for first chemo

As I’ve mentioned in previous posts I’ve been messed around a bit in the lead up to my diagnosis of lymphoma. 

Last week the dr told me that he was cancelling my pre assessment as he was rushing through my first chemo session and was therefore cancelling my preassessment because I was going straight on to the ward.

ive just had a very annoyed nurse ring me and ask why I haven’t turned up for my pre assessment when I’m meant to be having chemo tomorrow.

Now I’m filled with anxiety. Is this likely to effect my chemo starting. Does this not just show me even more lack of professionalism, people not communicating with each other.

feeling very very stressed out right now!

    Try not to let it worry you, you have enough to think about at the minute. I didn’t have a pre assessment, I met my oncologist and had chemo an hour later therefore I don’t think it’s essential, certainly wasn’t in my case. 

    It’s likely you will need to have some blood tests done, for my first session they did them there and then and just waited for the results, all my other sessions I go in the day before. 

    Is there anything else you are worried about?

    I’m not really worried about the treatment itself as I’m just very matter of fact about it. Nobody wants to do it but if I want to get better I’ll have to.

    I just get stressed out about the lack of organisation. It was lack of communication that led me to wait 4 months for a diagnosis.

    Ive spoken to my lovely nurse and she calmed me down and reassured me that everything will be fine tomorrow the message just wasn’t passed along with me being fast tracked. So feeling a bit better after that.

    I know what you mean about lack of communication, unfortunately I think it goes with the territory.  I spent a couple of nights in hospital last week and the lack of communication  between people on the same team was ridiculous, It drives me up the wall.  

    Count to 10.
