Hi all,
was diagnosed with grade 2, IDC on the 2nd August. came as a massive shock. No family history of breast cancer and I am 34.
My mammogram said my tumour was 17mm, ultrasound said it was 18mm and then my post biopsy mri said it’s 28mm. To be fair, it does feel pretty bug but it also feels very deep and as if there’s tissue over the top of it making it feel bigger if that makes any sense.
Can anyone else recall how their rumours felt compared to how it measured and the size of it post lumpectomy / mastectomy?
Why im fixating on this point is because when I was initially diagnose I was told it was a small tumour (18mm), it was grade 2 and that it didn’t apprewr from the ultrasound to be in my lymph nodes. My surgeon assured me that these things were all very good. However, since then I’ve had a MrI which says tumour is 1cm bigger and it also flagged up 1 suspicious area in my breast and two enlarged lymph nodes. Just when I was getting my head around having breast cancer this happens - the ground moves from under me and everything changes. I’ve since had a biopsy on the suspicious area in my breast which radiologist thinks is just a intermammery lymph node. I’ve also had a fine needle aspiration on one of my enlarged nodes. That came back as showing no signs of cancer and my hospital have since put me through another *** biopsy just to be sure (wish they’d done it to begin with). I’m still waiting on those results before I’ll know anymore about my treatment options.
All this time spent hanging around, waiting for results, I’ve just been googling all day looking up all the things I shouldn’t. Because I have no idea what stage I am because I don’t know if I have lymph node involvement and if so, the extent of it. Im also spending a ridiculous amount of time feeling my tumour and trying to figure outback it’s size and what’s possibly overlaying tissue or swelling.
Any previous experience like mine? Also any tips on how you managed to stay sane?
Best
