Can anyone advise

Hi everyone. A family member was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer but they’re not telling me many details and I’m too shy to ask. They say they’re going to have chemo and that the cancer will become dormant but that there is no cure. What does this mean? Will they live? Will they die? Will they be ok or suffer? So many questions.

  • Hi Boohoo,

I'm very sorry to read about your family member. I understand there can be some sensitivities around talking about these matters - perhaps try talking to them and they might be more willing to open up or share than they seem. Sometimes people prefer to be asked questions, although this of course depends on your family member.

As I'm sure you're aware we can't answer those questions for you. Try not to let shyness get in the way of asking - you could try to broach it with them and it will quickly be clear whether they do or don't want to speak about it. It may also be a matter of finding out things in time rather than straight away.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • He died on the 8th January and his funeral was today.

  • I'm really sorry for your loss Boohoo.

I know nothing I can say can make this better or take away the pain but I just want you to know our thoughts are with you at this time.

    Kind regards,
