Feeling shaky

i have just been diagnosed with Grade 3 breast cancer - operation to remove lump in 2 weeks.  I feel so shaky and trembly now.  Is this normal?  Probably the shock and realisation I suppose.  This is my first post on this forum.

  • Hi Pandy

So sorry, I ended up in a daze, even after 2 lumpectomies and 15 radiotherapy sessions I am still in a fug!  It’s like a roller coaster ride that you have no control of. I have found the nurses, surgeons so understanding and supportive.

if you need radiotherapy, it’s more the travelling to have the treatment than the actually treatment that tires you. Buy lots of Aveeno cream!

    Good luck

  • Thank you.  It's good to share feelings.

  • Hi Pandy

    Sorry for your diagnosis.

I was diagnosed two weeks ago with grade 2 breast cancer and hormone receptive (they did say more but I wasn’t really listening)  I’m waiting on my mri before they tell me what I’m having first.

My mri is Wednesday then my treatment plan is a week Thursday. Ever since I’ve had the diagnosis I’ve been shaky the first week was the worst. I was constantly shaky and my heart wouldn’t stop pounding. It’s slowly getting easier I’ve started breathing exercises but I still sometimes when I can’t stop it.

Have you tried talking to your BC nurse?

  • Pandy, bless you. It'll be OK hun, but I know how hard it is. Just stay on this planet, as best you can; don't float off to 'planet cancer'. With love, V x

  • Thank you. It feels good to chat to others in similar position.
  • Best of luck to you - hope all goes well.  It is good to chat to others going through the same.  Had my diagnosis last Friday and the BC nurse was lovely.  Felt positive when she was chatting.  It hit me a few days later and have felt shaky since.  Not quite so bad today.  They haven't suggested an MRI scan and my limp nodes look clear.

  • I’m glad your nodes look clear and your shakiness is a little better.

Mri day today. Nearly wasn’t  happening  as mri machine broke yesterday at the hospital I was booked in. They called me at 6 to cancel and I was told to sit by my phone they’d rebook me this morning. I was scared as if no mri today that meant no treatment plan next week. Luckily they called me back 20 mins later, they managed to get me in another hospital this morning.

  • I hope your MRI went well and the results are good.  All the best.

Two weeks today till my op.

  • It was ok thanks. I don’t feel too great though my head is pounding but I'm hoping it will pass. I’ll get the results and  my treatment plan next Thursday.

Not long to wait till your op. Hoping the time goes quickly for you. I find the waiting is the worst.

  • Glad things went okay and hope the results are favourable.

I am feeling a lot better as the day has gone on.  Spent an hour or so gardening then polished and hoovered the lounge!  Keeping busy helps and I've got my mind in a better place again.
