Hi Kate, it can depend where in the bones it is, my prostate cancer is in lymph nodes, spine, ribs, pelvis and I lung I was diagnosed over three years ago I'm still living a normal life apart from getting older aches and pains do you have gleason score or any others, my psa was 1581 gleason 8 stage 4 hope to hear from you soon,

Hi Billy, that’s bittersweet! I’m glad you’re still living a normal life; gives me hope :) well he has a biopsy today and a bone scan next week, so we’ll find out more then. He’s very private and won’t tell me about the PSA, he just said it was “too high”.

Sorry to read about your dad. Luckily treatment has come a long way in the past few years, I know how worrying this must be for you both. My psa was a lot lower than Billys at 70 but after treatment as 0.01, so I hope you can take encouragement from our tories

Hi Kate

My husband is 64 and was diagnosed in June with prostate cancer. I understand how you are feeling . Its all very scary and a world that nobody wants to be in !!! Since June we have had a couple of hospital apppointments, one to an oncologist and next week we are off to talk about robotic surgery. 

The oncologist ( who was lovely)  advised surgery, are other option was radiotherapy. She spoke in English and even drew pictures to explain everything. She gave us her reasons for her advise as well. 

Making the decision is hard but I'm sure we will get there eventually. 

We also went to a prostate cancer support group the other day.That made me feel positive as there were men who had been through various types of treatment. 

All the scores and jargon are very scary but hopefully you will find someone who you can chat to. If you want to contact me again I don't mind as I'm quite new to this strange new world as well.
